Everything you need to know about setting up and using BeatPort-DL
Introduction
BeatPort-DL is a companion desktop utility built for active Beatport Streaming subscribers. While Beatport Streaming lets you play music inside compatible DJ software with an active internet connection, BeatPort-DL lets you download your discovered tracks permanently to your local drive for club CDJ/USB compatibility.
Installation
BeatPort-DL runs as a native desktop application for Windows and macOS.
App Activation
To link your desktop app and unlock downloads:
- Create an account in the BeatPort-DL web portal.
- Launch the desktop app on your computer.
- On the login screen, enter your email and password or use the Activation Token generated on your web account page.
- Enter the Web Connection URL:
https://beatport-dl.com - Click login to unlock the desktop interface.
Downloading Music
BeatPort-DL supports two primary ways to download audio:
- Search: Use the built-in search box to find any track in the Beatport catalog and trigger an instant download.
- Paste URL: Copy the URL of any track, release, playlist, or chart from the Beatport website and paste it into the downloader to import.
⚠️ Note: Downloading full playlists, releases, or charts at once (Batch Downloads) requires an active Pro or Premium plan.
Download Speeds & Parallelization
Depending on your active subscription plan, the desktop app allocates parallel download worker slots to speed up large downloads:

Metadata & Tagging
Every download automatically packages clean, high-quality ID3 tags.
- Free Plan: Standard metadata (Title, Artist, Release Name, Track Number).
- Pro & Premium Plans: Full professional DJ metadata, writing the exact BPM, Camelot Key (Tonart), and embedding high-resolution Cover-Art directly into the files. Ready to drop into Rekordbox, Serato, or Traktor.
Quota Resets
Your monthly download quota runs on a billing period basis:
- Quota is only consumed when the desktop app successfully finishes writing a track to your local storage. Failed or cancelled jobs do not consume your limit.
- Your quota resets automatically on your monthly subscription anniversary. You can check the reset date inside the **Account** tab of the web dashboard.
